The department was established to disseminate information technologies within and outside the university and carries out activities for the planning and execution of the Computer Hardware and Operating Systems course, which is included in the curricula of all faculties and colleges affiliated to Balıkesir University. In addition, the department continues to work on the implementation of "Distance Education" technologies used to transfer information to large masses within the university.
